Please can you pass on our thanks to Deborah, the children thought she was amazing. "

Not all schools have kilns or an experienced ceramicist to facilitate high quality clay workshops. Creative Clay for All can bring the clay workshops to you, giving the pupils an opportunity to experience clay. Classes are tailor made to fit in with the curriculum topics the year group are exploring. Using pattern, texture, shape and form, pupils can explore, observe and develop their own creative and imaginative ideas. Clay can be used to interpret 2D designs into a 3D reality. Pupils can investigate and respond to direct sensory experiences to realise their creative potential and improve their manual dexterity.
The clay creations will be taken away and fired in the kiln returned a few weeks later, giving individual glazed works of art to keep or creating a ceramic installation for the school. Ideal for personalising an outdoor space or commemorating an event with a tile installation. Air drying clay classes using pottery techniques are also available.
Example projects
Lion plaques, Reception class topic of Africa.
Sargent Stubby, Y4 WW2 topic
Coy carp, Y2 studying Japan.
Hydra, Y4 studying Greek mythology.
Roman soldier heads, Y3 using pinch pot skills.
Gaudi chimneys, Y5 exploring slab building skills, bringing architecture to life.
Ammonites with tentacles or Mary Anning for fossil studies
Dolphins, Reception class, exploring local history of Poole Pottery.
Tile plaques, all years celebrating an event or learning journey
A day of pottery skills from coiling to pinch pots

The slide show images include a Van Gogh sunflower project at Clay after school club. Exploring textures and mark making in clay. Y4 clay ammonites supporting the fossil topic. A reception class that cut around dolphin templates, then explored textures creating unique works of art inspired by Poole pottery. Y1 class that had drawn their beach hut ideas out on paper then used stamps and wallpapers to build up textures making beach hut plaques. Still images show a range of previous school projects including a wall installation exploring texture based on dandelion seed heads.
